Albert Hill, Died in the line of duty 1949

Albert Hill

Lincoln Hose member Albert Hill joined the company in 1912 and had served with honor for many years including time as Foreman.  Albert was married and had two sons and resided on Second Street.  On July 25, 1944, Lincoln answered a Still Alarm for a trash fire behind the Bayside Hotel on Broad Street.  As Albert jumped on the Mack pumper, the officer side door swung open, and Albert was ejected from the rig.  He fell under the pumper and at that time driver Allyn Lee, applied the brakes, to stop the rig.

During the accident his leg was torn off and the other crushed.  Lincoln's driver, Allyn, was raced to the First Aid Headquarters to retrieve the Ambulance, while another driver took the pumper to extinguish the fire. Taken to Monmouth Memorial Hospital, Albert never walked again and suffered for four years, dying of infection or a blood clot in 1949.

We Remember His Service and Honor his Sacrifice to this day.
